Tales from the Social Media Crypt

Halloween is just around the corner, which means your Rhode Island business can start having some fun on social! There are so many great ways you can use social media to get customers engaged and heading to your location this fall. So sit back, relax and let us be your guide through the social media house of horrors!

A Photo Contest for the Living Dead

Creating a Halloween Photo Contest for your RI customers is a great way to boost engagement on your page and get your audience excited about following your business. Many seasonal businesses see a decrease in their social engagement after summer, which is why it is important to start off the next holiday strong.

Kick off the contest with a post that notifies your local customers about the rules. They have from October 1- October 30th to post up their “Best Halloween Costume”, and a winner will be announced on the 31st!

Options are always a great way to get more participation. So, give a few entry options including…

Posting their photo to your business page.
Using a specific hashtag for the contest. (ex. #busyseedspooks)
Tag the business in your social media post.

Give your social audience an extra incentive with prizes for 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place! Always Remember to tie in your business by offering prizes such as swag or gift cards! The dark and ominous sky is the limit!

Quoth the Relevant Raven “Give Them More”

A perfect way to use your social channels during the holiday season is by giving your customers more relevant posts. What does this mean? If you are a local Rhode Island Brewery, change your beer names for the month of October to reflect a few famous Halloween movies or famous horror villains. It is a great way to re-purpose previous posts you may have created to give your social following some seasonal relevancy.

How else can you give your Rhode Island customers more on social this Halloween season? Get creative! If you are a clothing store or local restaurant, show off your decorations on social so that customers will want to stop by and get in the spirit with your business.

Eerie Events

Many individuals check their social media channels to see if there are any fun events happening during the spooktacular season. So, if you haven’t planned anything yet…get on it. Drive more customers your way by having a cider social while customers shop or a costume contest at your local bar on the weekend before Halloween! Create the event on your social page, and make sure to continuously promote your event throughout the month to build a buzz!

If “bustin” makes you feel good, then you are ready for the Halloween season! Get your social engagement back from the grave and give your ghoulish customers a reason to head back to your local RI business for some good ole’ hocus pocus!

In this episode, we’re taking a hard look at the "post-novelty" era of AI in 2026. We discuss how artificial intelligence has shifted from a front-page "magic trick" into the invisible operating system of the internet—and why that’s actually making it harder than ever for businesses to stand out.

Search visibility is no longer built through organic efforts alone. Paid media reinforces relevance, engagement, and entity recognition that generative systems rely on. Treating paid and SEO as one system creates compounding visibility instead of isolated wins.

Over-optimized automation often prioritizes volume over intent. When creative lacks human clarity, platforms chase cheap conversions that rarely convert downstream. Buyer quality depends more on message depth than algorithmic efficiency.
